Cardiovascular Technologist
Cardiovascular Technologist students are trained in the performance of non-invasive testing procedures which provide recorded data used in the detection of various forms of heart disease.
Training in cardiovascular diagnostics emphasizes basic and advanced electrocardiology, electrocardiography, echocardiography, and cardiac Doppler. Basic color flow studies are presented utilizing color flow equipment as well as other types of echocardiography equipment for extensive hands-on practice. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles related to ECG, Holter Monitoring, Exercise Stress Testing, Echocardiography and Cardiac Doppler.
The clinical/externship rotation is a valuable experience outside the educational facilities of the school. Student is assigned to a school-approved hospital/clinical site by the Program Director to complete the technical requirements of the program.
Due to the technical nature of this program, students must have prior allied health training, clinical work experience and college credits in anatomy & physiology, math and science.
The knowledge and skills acquired in this program prepare students for responsible career entry positions with advancement opportunities in hospitals, specialty clinics, and non-invasive cardiovascular laboratories. There is a wide-spread demand for competent cardiovascular technologists.
